Thanks for this and the other write ups - actually has me wanting to come check out Miami when I come back stateside, never been.

One small but relevant point about “”Tel Aviv”” (i.e. Israel) as I see more of these comparisons. I had the good fortune of co founding one of the Israeli unicorns a year out of university there, and have spent the past 7-8 years based in the US shuttling between NYC<>SF, so saw all these geos up close as a founder. One thing that is one of the key drivers of the ecosystem in Israel which barely ever gets mentioned is the lack of opportunity, and hence low opportunity costs, of starting things for talented young Israelis. Those guys simply don’t have the option of going to work at some Goldman or Insight or Founders Fund. Even much less so in Facebook/Google/etc etc (except for a small portion that are top engineers; this part of the statement is eroding, admittedly). As a result, trying startups was generally much less ‘risky’ for someone like me versus my equivalent in the US. This part of the conversation is sorely missing in all the quite empty talk that “very senior figures in government and military” tend to provide visiting dignitaries from SV. Miami is still very much a part of the United States and answers to different labor force dynamics than Tel Aviv.

That being said sounds like a cool place to visit when the US gets a grip on its vaccine program and I can come back ;) Keep up the good writing.
